Main Long A Phonics Rules

Magic E (a_e): Use when the letter A is followed by one consonant and a silent E at the end (e.g., cake, name, gate). The silent E "jumps over" the consonant to make the A say its name.
The ai Rule: Use ai when the long A sound is in the middle of a word or syllable (e.g., rain, train, paint). 
The ay Rule: Use ay when the long A sound is at the very end of a word or syllable (e.g., day, play, stay).
